SEV says teachers’ rights are guaranteed in Veracruz

Xalapa, Ver., (08/ July/ 2020).- The Ministry of Education of Veracruz (SEV) reported that the nine thousand 831 teachers of the basic level and a thousand 400 of half-superior who will attend the first stage of the Teaching Performance Assessment, in November, they will maintain their financial benefits and their stay in the education sector, so it is completely false, as has been handled on social networks, that they will lose their acquired rights or that they have to give up their place to take the exam.

The evaluation, as provided for in the Teacher Professional Service Act, is mandatory and it is false that it is punitive under the fact that it does not establish any sanction, on the contrary, teachers who participate and who stand out in this first phase will be able to participate in the new program of stimulus to teaching function at its first level, and will be creditors to the 35 percent increase in their base salary; in the case of working in municipalities of high and very high marginalization, the increase will be 41 per cent.

The requirements for teachers to be evaluated are: have a definitive place, six years minimum service and no more than 20 years, in addition to being in front of the group; these teachers have already been randomly selected for the sample.

The SEV, in coordination with the leadership of the National Union of Education Workers (SNTE) sections 32 and 56, will provide them with face-to-face and online training courses, as well as all the materials they require to improve their knowledge and skills; workshops for the preparation of their performance reports.

Teachers who have been selected for this first sample of the basic level will have until August 15 and mid-superior until the 22nd of the same month, for the delivery of their evidence portfolio to the National Coordination of the Teaching Professional Service as indicated in the calendar of the National Institute of Educational Assessment (INEE).

The Secretary of Education of Veracruz, Flavino RĂ­os Alvarado, emphasized that, as Governor Javier Duarte de Ochoa has made public and is in the General Education Law, Veracruz teachers are guaranteed their acquired rights, their wage perceptions, union conquests and permanence in the education sector.
